Method 1:  place your document into another file.

  • Open the file menu and click the blank document.
  • Open insert tab, Click an object in the text group and then click text from a file.
  • Select the file and then click Insert.

Method 2: Using the/a switch (when using the word).

The/a switch is a troubleshooting tool, used to determine where a problem may exist in the word.  It prevents add-ins and global templates from being loaded automatically.

Follow the given steps to use the/a switch:


  • In the search box type run and then press enter.
  • And then, in the run dialog box, type WinWord/a, and press enter.

Method 3: Change the default printer

To change it, follow these instructions:


  • Exit all Office programs.
  • In the search box type regedit and then press enter
  • Right-click Microsoft XPS document writer, and then click set as the default printer
  • At last start word
