Dell Monitor: Know How to Run Diagnostic Test On A Dell Monitor.

Are your Dell monitor annoys you? If your Dell monitor has a black screen, fuzzy or blurry image then, running a diagnostic test will help you.

STFC will help you (Self-Test Feature Check).

• Dell monitor has a feature of STFC that allows you to check whether your Dell monitor is working properly.

To run it on your Dell Monitor follow the following steps:

• Turn off both PC and the monitor.
• Unplug the video cable from the back of PC.
• Turn on the dell monitor.
• A kind of floating dialog box appears on-screen. Reset the monitor to factory settings using the on-screen menu.
• Off the dell monitor and reconnect the video cable.
• Then, turn it on(both PC & Dell monitor).
• Check the video card(if the monitor screen still remains blank or black).


BIST( Monitor Built-in Self Test).

• If you notice some screen abnormality like flickering, distortion, color fade etc, it’s always good to run the BIST.

To run it follow these guidelines:

• Your monitor screen should be neat & clean.
• Unplug the video cables.
• You have to press & hold button 1 or 5 sec. so that a gray screen appears.
• Press button 1 on the front panel again. The color changes to red.
• Inspect the screen for any abnormality.
• Repeat step4 and 5 to inspect the screen.
• A test is complete when a white screen appears.
• To exit from BIST press button 1.

For best results, follow these maintenance guidelines while unpacking, cleaning or handling a dell monitor.

• Use the lightly dampen a soft, clean cloth with water to clean anti-static screen
• Avoid using detergent to clean monitor
• Wipe it off with the cloth, if you notice white powder when you unpack the monitor
• Handel the monitor with care
• Use a dynamically changing screensaver for the best quality image on the monitor
